Phantom Noise

Phantom Noise - Brian Turner

For me, too many of these poems are expected or variations on a theme. I feel unfair or hypocritical saying that since most of us (poets and artists generally) create such variations, but I suppose they were too obvious or not of enough interest to me personally. There are moments and entire poems of surprise, but I had higher hopes. One blurb had mentioned how hearing from a poet in war would enlighten us to what it's really like, but I found so many moments were familiar from popular culture. I have a feeling the poet's aesthetic/style is simply not to my taste and that may be a contributing factor as well.
